YOUR TRAINING CONTRACT

The thing about a training contract at Taylor Wessing is that it often won't feel like you're training at all. You'll be hands-on from the start and a huge amount of what you learn will be picked up while you're working on a wide variety of live projects alongside our partners and senior lawyers. This is one of the key benefits of joining Taylor Wessing and a vital part of turning the theory of the past few years into the practice of being a solicitor.

You'll also have expert tuition throughout the two years to help you develop fresh skills and knowledge, plus plenty of support to make sure you're happy with the way the training is going.

Your Route

You'll spend your two-year training contract in four different practice areas. This is true whether you're a law graduate who's just completed the Legal Practice Course or a non-law graduate who has also done the Graduate Diploma in Law.

We'll sit down with you soon after you join to discuss which seats you'd like to take and we'll work with you to make sure this fits with the needs of the business - flexibility is key and all experience counts at this stage. Because of the importance of corporate work right across the firm, you'll definitely need to do a Corporate seat. Contentious experience is also a must, but can be gained in our Commercial Disputes, Employment & Pensions, Trade Marks, Copyright and Media, Patents and Corporate Recovery and Reconstruction and Construction practice groups. Your remaining two seats are elected by you based on your personal preferences and future career path.

Running alongside your day-to-day work will be study in the form of the Professional Skills Course (PSC), which we're accredited to run in-house. It covers areas including advocacy, financial and business skills, client care and professional standards. These core areas will also be supplemented by our own technical training and lectures as and when they're needed.
