Taylor Wessing Commercial Challenge
The results are in!
Taylor Wessing is pleased to announce that team Pearson Hardman from UCL are winners of the third Taylor Wessing Commercial Challenge. Pearson Hardman team members Lu Zhenyou, Victoria Wai Teng, Mansoor and Ann Liang enjoyed an exclusive night of hospitality and have each been awarded a week's paid work experience at Taylor Wessing.
The Commercial Challenge is an innovative competition, designed by international law firm Taylor Wessing, to immerse students in a real business situation and show them the part law plays in big City deals (based on an actual Taylor Wessing transaction).
Three teams, representing King’s College London (KCL), London School of Economics (LSE) and University College London (UCL), reached the final and were invited to Taylor Wessing’s London office to present their pitch to the judging panel. With teams from KCL and LSE having won previous Challenges, this year was the first win for UCL- although Victoria and Ann were part of a finalist team from UCL last year.
Graduate Recruitment Partner Jayne Schnider comments:
“The Taylor Wessing Commercial Challenge gives students an opportunity to gain the skills needed in today's working environment.
'This year, the quality of entries made the challenge ever more competitive. The finalists took our advice on board and proved themselves to have great potential as Taylor Wessing lawyers of the future, offering both commercial solutions and practical legal advice. Many congratulations to both Pearson Hardman and all the contestants."
The winning team said:
“This has been a great opportunity to put the theories learnt into practice at a top international firm. Whilst we expected a challenge, what we also gained was valuable advice and insights that meant win or lose- it was a great experience."
